How long does it take to make my custom-made surfboard?
In general, after deciding all details and receiving an advanced payment we take two to three weeks to finish your board.
How long do I have to wait until I can surf my new Mica Surfboard?
After you receive your board from us, you should wait at least one week (two weeks would be the best) before you surf with it. This way, the resin has more time to dry and makes your board more resistant. Tip: Order your Mica Surfboard a month before your arrival, so that it will be ready to surf the day you pick it up.
How do I figure out which model is the best for me?
We are building custom handcrafted surfboards, which are individually made for your skills, weight, size and kind of waves/spots you are riding. The models just give you an idea of what Mica Surfboards is producing. We only maintain the models concept, which means outline, curvature as well as bottom and adapt all other details to your individual needs.
How much volume does my surfboard has?
It is a computer program, which makes the calculation of a surfboards volume, not us. Therefor we can tell you the volume of your board only after it gets designed.
Which materials do you use to build my surfboard?
Since quality is very important to us, we use only the finest materials available. We obtain the surfboard blanks from Burford or Arctic Foam, the fiberglass from Hexcel and Aerialite, and the polyester as well as expoxy resin from Silmar.
Does my Mica Surfboard come with fins?
The board comes with a fin system, but not with a set of fins (except glass on fins). You can choose between a FCS system, Futures system and glass on fins. If you prefer a FCS-system, you can further choose between FCS II, FCS Origin, FCS Fusion or FCS X2. If you want to purchase a set of fins from us, we will offer advice and special prices for our clients.
Which fin set up options do I have and what are the advantages of a five-fin set-up?
You can choose to have rather a single-fin, a twin-fin, a thruster, a quad or a five-fin set-up. A five-fin set-up allows you to use your board as either a thruster or a quad for different types of waves to be more versatile or in case you simply want to try something different. When you order your board we decide together which one is the best option for you depending of what kind of waves/spots you want to ride.
Which one is the best fin system?
Each system has its own features. You should choose it after your individual needs. Question yourself: Which fin systems do my other boards have? Am I happy with my old system or do I want to try something new? Do I prefer screws or not? In general we always advise FCS II because it gives you more options in terms of product variety and lower prices

What are carbon toe patches for? Can I order them on my Mica Surfboard?
We always reinforce the tail area of our boards, but in some cases people smash the tail of the board with their own toes (i.g. pro surfers). Here carbon patches help out to strengthen the tail of your board and avoid cracking the tail. If you want to, you can order carbon patches on your custom made Mica surfboard.
Can I get a painting on my Mica Surfboard?
Yes, you can rather choose to create your own design and email it to us or inspire yourself from previous Micasurfboards. Have a look on our ideas. In case your design is more complex we have to estimate the costs with our artists.
What is the difference between Painting and Resin Tint?
A painting is made for example with brush and acrylic ink on top of the foam of the shape or on top of the finished board. Resin tint is a color pigment, which is mixed directly in the resin when fiber glassing. Like this we can create very unique pattern and colors.

Yes, we offer surfboard ding repair services.We repair any kind of ding on your surfboard, whether it is a little hole or a broken surfboard. By envolving some extra services such as pick ups and deliveries in Ericeira as well as quick 24h and 48h services we will get your surfboard quickly back in the water.
How do I pay my new Mica Surfboard?
Every order is finalized with an advanced payment of 100 €, which is payed before the start of the working process. The rest of the payment is made when the board is ready. You rather pay in cash at The Surfboard Shop or by bank wire transfer before we send out your board. Please remember to add your name to your transference.
How can I track the progress of my Mica Surfboard?
If you want to know exactly where your custom board is up to just send us an email, which we respond as quickly as possible to provide you with pictures and detailed information about the status of your board.
Can you deliver my board to my doorstep?
Yes, we can deliver your board to almost every country. If you live in Norway, Switzerland or Croatia you have to count with additional costs and procedures. Please contact us for detailed information. To send out your board we need to know your address and phone number.
How much does sending cost and how long does it take?
The price for sending depends on the destination. The price includes packaging and insurance. Please contact us to know the price for your delivery. Usually delivers take between one and three days within Portugal and one to two weeks within Europe. Once your board is sent out we email you the tracking code to follow your new Mica Surfboard online. Please remember to unpack your board in front of the delivery man to make sure no damage occurred.
How do you pack my board when sent?
We carefully pack your board in bubble wrap, wrap cardboard around nose and tail and slip it into a cardboard box.
